Delhi: In the important match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, Punjab Kings (PBKS), batting first, set a strong target of 211 runs in front of Delhi Capitals (DC). After winning the toss, Delhi chose to bowl, but Punjab’s batsmen scored runs aggressively and scored 210 runs for 5 wickets.

On behalf of the team, captain Shreyas Iyer and young batsman Priyansh Arya played brilliant innings.

Priyansh Arya gave a stormy start

Punjab Kings had a very strong start. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh put pressure on Delhi bowlers in the initial overs. Both the batsmen added 78 runs in 41 balls for the first wicket. Prabhasimran was out after scoring 18 runs in 15 balls, in which he hit 3 fours.

After this, Priyansh Arya continued his explosive batting. He scored 56 runs in just 33 balls. In his innings he hit 6 sixes and 2 fours. Punjab had lost the wickets of both the openers till 97 runs, but after that the team maintained the run pace.

Shreyas Iyer and Cooper Connolly took over the innings

Captain Shreyas Iyer batted responsibly in the middle order. With Cooper Connolly, he made an important partnership of 83 runs in 52 balls for the third wicket. Connolly scored 38 runs on 27 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Iyer did not give any chance to the Delhi bowlers while scoring runs rapidly on the other side. He scored unbeaten 59 runs in 36 balls. During this, 5 fours and 3 brilliant sixes came from his bat.

Shreyas Iyer equals Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid

With this half-century innings, Shreyas Iyer also made a special achievement in his name. He has become the third batsman to score more than 50 runs in three consecutive matches against Delhi Capitals. Before this, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid had done this feat.

Dravid had scored half-centuries in three consecutive matches against Delhi during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Whereas, Virat Kohli had achieved this feat during 2012-13 and again in 2016-17. Now Shreyas Iyer has registered his name in this list in 2025-26.

If he scores a fifty against Delhi in the next match too, he will become the batsman who has scored the most consecutive 50 plus scores against this team.
