Varun believes that Punjab did not select the players properly and that is why they had to face such a situation this year. Let us tell you that Punjab had to face defeat in its last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In this match, Punjab, batting first, scored 214 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Chasing the target, Hyderabad achieved it in 19.1 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. After the defeat in this match, Varun has given a big statement during the conversation on Star Sports.

He said, “Harpreet Brar has bowled very well this season and has impressed everyone. However, I feel that he has failed to impress the management of Punjab. Brar performed well consistently but despite this he was dropped in some matches. “Selecting a bad playing eleven has cost Punjab dearly this season and that is why today they are at the bottom in the points table.”

If we look at Harpreet's performance in IPL 2024, he played a total of 13 matches and during this, the 28-year-old took 7 wickets at an economy of 7.97. Even though this player did not get many wickets, he has bowled well and Varun has raised questions about this. Although he was dropped from only one match, he criticized the Punjab management for not consistently backing any player.
