Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins heaped massive praise on his teammate Abhishek Sharma for his batting, which played a crucial role in the team’s win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 23-year-old Abhishek has shown consistency this season, which was extended after his breathtaking 66 runs off 28 balls innings against PBKS. With a four-wicket win SRH moved to 2nd spot in points table. Cummins spoke about Abhishek’s batting, and also admitted that he wouldn’t want to bowl against the young Indian batter.

Chasing 215-runs for their 8th win, SRH suffered an early setback after Arshdeep Singh dismissed Travis Head on the first ball of the innings. However, Abhishek didn’t stop and played good strokes. Heinrich Klaasen was equally impressive, amassing 42 runs off 26 delieveries. Abhishek has scored 467 runs in his 13 appearances so far, making him one of the most consistent openers this season.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the SRH skipper lauded the efforts of Sharma.

“It was cool and awesome. We have won 6 out of 7 matches at home. I didn’t know many guys before joining the franchise, but we have played good cricket,” Cummins said.

“Abhishek is amazing and scary. I wouldn’t want to bowl against him. Nitish is a class player and has shown maturity. I haven’t been a part of playoffs before so it looks exciting, having qualified for the next round. Looking forward to what lies ahead,” Cummins added.

Abhishek and Head have formed a deadly opening pair in IPL 2024. They have won several matches for the 2016 champions.
