Harbhajan Singh wants to see Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir face-off in the final of the ongoing IPL season. KKR became the first franchise to qualify for the playoffs of the 17th season and are number one with 20 points from 14 games. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru became the fourth team to qualify, following their victory over Chennai Super Kings. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals are the other two franchises to make it to the next round.
Harbhajan gave his prediction for the finalists and said that RCB and KKR are likely to clash in the mega match. The former cricketer futher said that Bengaluru can clinch their maiden IPL trophy.
“I have a feeling that RCB and KKR will clash in the final. If that happens Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir will be back to face each other in the ongoing season. RCB can clinch the trophy as they have worked hard for each run. If they play with the energy and passion, it will be tough to beat them,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Kohli and Gambhir were at loggerheads, having had two verbal slugfest in the history of the cash-rich league. They took on each other during the RCB vs KKR Match in 2013 when Gambhir gave a fiery send-off to Kohli after his dismissal. Kohli didn’t like Gambhir’s behaviour and the two were involved in a heating exchange.
The second instance occurred during RCB vs LSG Match in IPL 2023 when Gambhir, who was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, started arguing with Virat for his spat with the Lucknow fast bowler Naveen Ul Haq. The two legends were separated by players and the BCCI took a strict action against them by imposing hefty fines.
However, the duo sorted out their differences this year. They were seen talking and hugging each other during the RCB vs KKR match in Bengaluru. Gambhir is currently working as a mentor of the two-time champions.
