MS Dhoni is expected to announce his retirement from the Indian Premier League. The veteran played his last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with Chennai Super Kings failing to making it to the playoffs. Despite good innings by Rachin Ravindra and Ravindra Jadeja, the defending champions fell short by 27 runs in the 17th season.

Former CSK player Ambati Rayudu has pleaded with Dhoni to play for another season as he deserves a winning farewell. Rayudu was supporting Chennai but the franchise couldn’t qualify for the next round.

Dhoni was battling knee issue throughout the season but played a as a wicket-keeper as the franchise didn’t had another proper gloveman in the team. He was told to rest by doctors but the veteran refused, considering the position of his franchise.

The impact was visible as Dhoni couldn’t bat for long and only came out for a few balls. Mahi is 42 and if decides to return for the next edition, there is a possibility of him facing the same issues.

Meanwhile, Ambati is still backing Dhoni.

“MS Dhoni should play one more season. This shouldn’t be his last as he cannot leave like this. He should play next season and win the IPL. He’s a once in a generation player and once in a generation human being,” Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports.

Dhoni has already given the captain’s armband to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who wasn’t impresive in his first season as a skipper.
