Lucknow: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma has made a big record of veteran player Virat Kohli in his name. In fact, Abhishek now holds the record for hitting the most sixes in a season by any Indian player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Abhishek is in excellent form in IPL 2024 and he is continuously giving explosive starts to his team. With his brilliant batting, he has now left even Kohli behind and registered his name in the record book.

Virat had hit 38 sixes while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the year 2016 and now Sharma has broken it and made his name. Actually, the left-handed batsman made this record when he hit 6 sixes during the match played against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. In this match against Punjab, the young batsman played an explosive inning of 66 runs in 28 balls with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes and with this he made this big record in his name. Abhishek has now hit 39 sixes this season and has left Kohli behind.
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant is at third place in the list of most sixes hit by an Indian batsman in a single season, who hit 37 sixes in the year 2018. So in this list, once again the name of Kohli comes at fourth place, who has hit 37 sixes so far in the current season. Apart from this, at number five is Chennai Super Kings' star all-rounder Shivam Dubey, who hit 35 sixes in the year 2023.
Abhishek Sharma's performance in IPL 2024
23-year-old Abhishek has looked different in IPL 2024 and has scored runs at a strike rate of more than 200 this season. The left-handed batsman gives a flying start to his team in almost all the matches, due to which Hyderabad has secured its place in the playoffs as well. Sharma has played a total of 13 matches this season in which he has scored 467 runs at an average of 38.92 and strike rate of 209.42. During this period, he has scored 3 half-centuries with his bat.
