Delhi: In the 50th match of IPL 2026, on Thursday, May 7, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 9 runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, Lucknow set a target of 213 runs for RCB with the help of Duckworth Lewis Method, thanks to the century innings of Mitchell Marsh. In reply, RCB could score 203 runs in 19 overs and lost the match.
Thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s brilliant century, Lucknow Super Giants have set a target of 213 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Marsh played an inning of 111 runs in 56 balls with the help of 9 fours and 9 sixes. Whereas Nicholas Puran contributed 38 runs in 23 balls. Whereas Rishabh Pant came in the last over and scored 32 runs in just 10 balls. Due to which Lucknow scored a total of 209 runs after losing three wickets in 19 overs. Due to rain the match was reduced to 19 overs. After which, due to Duckworth-Lewis rule, RCB got the target of 213 runs.
RCB had a bad start while chasing the target. RCB lost Jacob Bethel and Virat Kohli within two overs. After this, Captain Rajat Patidar made a comeback in the match with the innings of 61 runs in 31 balls and Devdutt Padikkal’s 34 runs in 25 balls. But Prince Yadav pushed RCB on the backfoot by taking the wickets of Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the same over.
In the last overs, Tim David scored 40 runs in 17 balls, Krunal Pandya scored 28 not out runs in 16 balls and Romaria Shepherd scored 23 not out runs in 15 balls.
But he failed to make the team win. In bowling for Lucknow, Prince Yadav took 3 wickets for 33 runs in four overs. Whereas Shahbaz Ahmed took two wickets. Due to which Lucknow restricted RCB to 203 runs in 19 overs and won the match by 9 runs.Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 9 runs
