Ambati Rayudu was heartbroken after Royal Challengers Bengaluru eliminated Chennai Super Kings from the playoffs in the Indian Premier League 2024. He was seen sitting with hands on his face after Yash Dayal bowled the last ball of the match.
Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t connect it and the hosts registered a 27-run victory over the arch-rivals.
There were wild celebrations on the roads of Bengaluru as RCB made one of the most memorable comebacks in the history of the cash-rich league. Even the players were in jubilant mood after making it to the next round.
Rayudu was taken aback and mocked the Faf du Plessis-led franchise.
“RCB should win the IPL. We saw what was the reaction on the streets of Bengaluru. In fact CSK should give one of their trophies to RCB so they can parade it,” Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports.
Former India pacer Varun Aaron took a dig at Ambati for his statement.
“He’s just not able to digest the fact that RCB knocked out CSK,” he said.
RCB and CSK amassed 14 points each from 14 games, but the former had a better net run-rate. Chasing 219 runs, the King managed 191/7 in 20 overs.
