Delhi: The troubles of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 are not showing any sign of abating. In the match played at Wankhede Stadium, the team faced defeat despite scoring a huge score. After the match, captain Rishabh Pant admitted that despite performing well, his team still lacked something and now luck has become necessary to change the situation.

Big score, but work incomplete

Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants made a strong score of 228/5. On behalf of the team, Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aidan Markram and Himmat Singh played brilliant innings. Despite a great start, the team could not show as much speed as was required in the end. Captain Rishabh Pant believes that the team could have converted this excellent start into a bigger score.

Mumbai’s strong start changed the match

The pair of Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton gave a strong base to Mumbai Indians (MI) while chasing the target.

The big partnership of 143 runs between the two completely changed the course of the match. Thanks to this brilliant start, Mumbai achieved the target easily and won by six wickets.

10-15 runs short: Pant

Pant admitted that this wicket was very favorable for batting and his team was left behind by at least 10 to 15 runs. He said that considering the way the team had started, the score should have been bigger, which proved to be decisive in the end.

Bowlers were not held responsible

Despite consecutive defeats, the captain refused to question the bowlers.

He said that it is not right to blame the bowlers on such a flat wicket, because they have performed well for the team throughout the season.

Now luck also needs support

When the question was asked about the team’s comeback, Rishabh Pant clearly said that now the team needs a little luck along with hard work. He said that luck will also be necessary in the upcoming matches.

Lucknow’s condition is bad in points table

After this defeat, the position of Lucknow Super Giants has become further weak. The team remains at the bottom of the points table with only two wins in nine matches.

At the same time, Mumbai Indians have kept their playoff hopes alive with this win.
