Former Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered yet another injury blow. 28-year-old all-rounder Ramkrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The Maharashtra-based player has suffered a fracture to his right foot, as confirmed by the franchise on social media.
CSK posted the news on X and wrote: “Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the game against MI at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026. Get well soon, Rambo”.
Ghosh had made his IPL debut in the game against the Mumbai Indians and took an outstanding catch to dismiss Will Jacks.
With the ball, the right-arm seamer bowled three overs and picked the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for 21, caught by Dewald Brevis. The franchise will play Delhi Capitals next on Tuesday, and has yet to announce a replacement after the latest injury setback.
It has been a really testing season for Chennai in terms of injuries. Former skipper MS Dhoni suffered a calf injury just before the campaign began. The 44-year-old has been practising in the nets and is yet to play this season. Nathan Ellis was already ruled out of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed also saw his season come to an early end after suffering a quadricep injury. This was followed by Ayush Mhatre being sidelined due to a tear in his left hamstring. Dewald Brevis had also missed a few games earlier in the season due to a side strain.
Gujrat Titans’ (GT) win over Punjab Kings has opened up a considerable gap between the top five teams and the rest of the pack. Titans are joint-second in the table with SRH, RCB, and RR after their third successive win.
The Capitals and Super Kings have played nine games so far this season and have eight points each. Tuesday night’s encounter will be key for both sides: a win will keep their playoff hopes alive, while a loss can derail them.
