Rajasthan Royals: IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has been acquired by Lakshmi Niwas Mittal and Aditya Mittal along with Adar Poonawala. After this acquisition, he will now be the new owner of this IPL franchise. The Mittal family informed about the matter on May 3, stating that a final agreement has been reached for the acquisition of Rajasthan Royals from Manoj Badale and his consortium, in partnership with Adar Poonawala.
According to Moneycontrol report, Mittal family was already taking interest in Rajasthan Royals.
The reason for his interest was to strengthen his sports portfolio. Now he has turned his interest into reality. After this acquisition, Mittal family's stake in Rajasthan Royals will be 75 percent while Adar Poonawala will have 18 percent stake. While the remaining 7 percent will remain with the investors, who also include Manoj Badale.Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, Aditya Mittal, Vanisha Mittal-Bhatia, Adar Poonawala and Manoj Badale will join the board of Rajasthan Royals.
The Mittal family has deep ties to the state of Rajasthan, as Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was born and brought up in Sadulpur village in northern Rajasthan. Lakshmi Niwas Mittal has also said that he loves cricket and since his family is from Rajasthan, there is no better IPL team than Rajasthan Royals, which he would like to be a part of. He said that he is desperate to be a part of this great team.According to Aditya Mittal, he too is feeling honored and excited to be a part of Rajasthan Royals. He said that IPL has become one of the biggest sports leagues in the world in a very short time, and Rajasthan Royals is one of the most prestigious teams of this league.
