Angel Gangwani Died: A female cricketer committed suicide after not being selected in the team. This 19 year old cricketer has been identified as Angel Gangwani. This case of cricketer's suicide is from Puducherry. There were selection trials for emerging players for the T20 cricket team in Thutipet, Puducherry. Angel Gangwani also took part in this selection trials but when his name did not appear in the final list, he committed suicide. According to TOI report, Angel Gangwani was a second year BBA student and the daughter of GST Superintendent Kashmir Kumar. For the last two years, she was living in Thutipet, Puducherry and was taking cricket training along with her studies.
According to a Times of India report, her landlord, P. Durairaj, said that Angel Gangwani had recently participated in the Puducherry Women's T20 selection trials held in Thutipet, but her name was not included in the final squad for the upcoming domestic season. According to the statement of the landlord, Angel was feeling disappointed after not being selected in the Puducherry T20 cricket team.
The landlord lodged a complaint with the police and said that when Angel did not respond to his repeated calls, he became suspicious. According to the landlord, Angel had returned to her room after finishing her practice at 8 pm on Wednesday night.
The incident of Angel Gangwani's suicide came to light when his coach Kathirvel tried to call him and he did not pick up the phone. After this he reached Angel's house. When the coach reached Kathirvel, he wanted to know about the well-being of Angel, but when he went there, he found that the ground beneath his feet had slipped. They found Angel hanging from the ceiling of the room. Angel Gangwani's body was immediately taken to the government hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
However, after the complaint of the incident was registered, the D. Nagar police of Puducherry has started investigating the matter.
