Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kartik Keep 160 Run Chase on Track Despite Two Quick Wickets

Despite losing two early wickets, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma kept the chase on track during the 160-run chase against the Mumbai Indians at Chennai.

CSK did not lose momentum despite losing the wickets of Sanju Samson and Urvil Patel within the power play.

After choosing to bat first, Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks opened the innings for the Mumbai Indians while Mukesh Choudhary opened the bowling attack.

Anshul Kamboj brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Will Jacks for 1 run. He got dismissed on a swing full length delivery, which Ramakrishna Ghosh took a brilliant catch running from deep backward point.

With Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir at the crease, the Mumbai Indians went on to score 57 runs in the power play. The duo made a 58-run partnership for the second wicket.

Noor Ahmad, who was introduced to bowling after the power play, picked the wicket of Ryan Rickelton. He got dismissed on a quick length around off where he hit it flat nd Urvil Patel picked the catch at Deep backward square leg.

With Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav are aiming to forge a partnership, Ramakrishna Ghosh picked the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for 21 runs on a short delivery. Ghosh got his maiden IPL wicket after Dewald Brevis took a easy catch as Mumbai Indians lost three wickets for 99 runs.

Tilak Varma who came to bat at No. 5 got dismissed for 5 runs. Tilak who looked for sweep shot, gets a thick top-edge where the ball goes high in the cover where Ruturaj Gaikwad picked the catch.

In the meantime, Naman Dhir smashed his fifty but got dismissed for 57 runs before being dismissed by Jamie Overton. He was sent back to dug out on a deceived pace where the batter miscued the timing as the ball went towards extra cover and Sarfaraz Khan took a brilliant catch.

With no answers for CSK bowlers, Mumbai Indians were struggling to pick runs. Anshul Kamboj picked his second and third wicket dismissing Robin Minz and Hardik Pandya for 5 and 18 runs respectively.

While Robin Minz got bowled out, Hardik Pandya got dismissed on full delivery on leg side where Pandya attempted straight batted loft and Dewald Brevis picked the catch in deep mid wicket.

With Krish Bhagat and Trent Boult at crease, Mumbai Indians scored 159 runs in their innings.

Anshul Kamboj bagged three wickets while, Noor Ahmad picked two wickets, while Ramakrishna Ghosh and Jamie Overton bagged one wicket each.

Chasing 159 runs, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

Jasprit Bumrah made a crucial breakthrough bagging the wicket of inform Sanju Samson for 11 runs. Earlier he got lifeline in slip where Will Jacks dropped the catch.
