The team draft of the women's wing of Madhya Pradesh Cricket League (MPL) was held on Thursday at the Imperial Golf Resort in Gwalior. The presence of MPL Founder and MPCA President Mahaaryaman Scindia along with Indian cricket team star Shikhar Dhawan and former Indian cricketer Saba Karim made the event memorable.

The program started with the address of MPCA President Mahaaryaman Scindia. He said that MPL has established itself as the biggest league in the country in just its third year.

Shikhar Dhawan praised Mahaaryaman

Shikhar Dhawan attended this program organized in Gwalior with his wife Sophie Dhawan. In his address on the occasion of establishment of The One High Performance Center and MPL Women Team Draft, he wished for a bright future of cricket in Madhya Pradesh.

Praising Mahaaryaman Scindia, he said that a big positive change has been seen in Madhya Pradesh cricket in the last 23 years. By starting MPL, he has provided a big platform to the players of the state.

Saba Karim remembered Madhavrao Scindia

Former Indian cricketer, selector, coach and broadcaster Saba Karim expressed happiness seeing the enthusiasm about the Women's State League. While wishing Mahaaryaman Scindia, he remembered Madhavrao Scindia. He said that during his tenure in BCCI, many positive changes took place, and he has a major contribution in the height at which Indian cricket is today.

Five teams chose their squads

In the MPL draft, out of 303 state level women players, five teams selected players according to their strategy. While last year there were three teams, this year the number of teams has increased to five.

MPL 2026 season will be held in Indore

All the matches of Madhya Pradesh Cricket League 2026 will be held in Indore. MPL will start from June 3 and this season will last for about 28 days.
