The IPL 2026 season is progressing at a fast pace and more than half of the matches have been completed. But along with this, many players have already been out of the tournament due to injuries. Amidst all this, now 3 players of the same team have suddenly had to return to their country, which includes the bowler who has taken the most wickets (Purple Cap) so far this season. According to a report, Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Ishan Malinga has suddenly returned to his country Sri Lanka in the middle of the season.
According to Sri Lankan media reports, right-arm fast bowler Ishan Malinga had to return to the country on the orders of the Sri Lankan board. Not only Malinga, but two other Sri Lankan players of Sunrisers, Dilshan Madhushanka and Kamindu Mendis, have also returned to the country. But the reason for this is not any injury or any series, but the paperwork, due to which he has to return to the country and he will soon return to the IPL.
It has been told in the report that all three players had to return to the country to complete visa related formalities.
Actually, after IPL, the Sri Lankan team has to tour West Indies. For this, players have to complete the biometric process related to visa. This is the reason why he had to return midway from the IPL. However, this will not affect their playing in the IPL because all three will join Sunrisers again on Friday. The team's next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday 3 May.Malinga's presence is especially important for Sunrisers.
Malinga has consistently bowled well this season and has contributed a lot to the team's success. Just before returning to Sri Lanka, Malinga had contributed to the excellent victory of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad had defeated Mumbai Indians on Wednesday night at their home Wankhede Stadium while chasing a record of 244 runs. Malinga took 1 wicket for 29 runs in 4 overs. Along with this, he is currently leading in the race for Purple Cap by taking 15 wickets this season.
