Virat Kohli played another good knock in the Indian Premier League 2024. The veteran scored 47 runs off 29 balls, laced with 4 sixes and 3 fours and his runs came at a strike rate of 162.06 against Chennai Super Kings. Virat crossed the 700-run mark in the 17th season, becoming the second player in the tournament history to record the milestone in two seasons.

Kohli had accumulated more than 900 runs in 2016 but RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle, who played for the Bengaluru-based franchise, was the first cricketer to go past 700 runs in two editions.

Michael Hussey, Shubman Gill, David Warner, Kane Williamson, Faf du Plessis and Jos Buttler scored 700-plus runs in one season each, respectively.

Virat has hit 1 hundred and five fifties and played a key role in five successive wins of the franchise. Despite facing flak for his scoring rate, the right-handed batter didn’t give up and gave a befitting reply to his critics with the bat .
