Lucknow: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is now slowly moving towards its end and the playoff matches are coming closer. Three teams have qualified for this season and the battle for the fourth place is going on between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Some of the main players of CSK are out due to injury and at such a time they have given chance to some young players. However, despite this, former India's veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that it was the biggest mistake of the team this season.

The biggest problem for Chennai this season has been their opening partnership. The team has constantly made changes to this location. Many times captain Ruturaj Gaikwad started the innings while in some matches he came to bat at number three. At the beginning of the season, young batsman Rachin Ravindra took over the responsibility of opening batsman but due to not scoring runs in some matches, he was dropped and now during a conversation on Star Sports, Harbhajan has called it the biggest mistake of CSK.

He said, “Chennai Super Kings did not give consistent opportunities to Rachin Ravindra. Chennai usually does not do this by not backing any player but here they made a big mistake. This year, CSK backed Ajinkya Rahane a lot but if Rachin was given so many opportunities in his place, he could have performed well. In my view, this is the biggest mistake Chennai has made this season.”

Let us tell you that last season Rahane played an important role in making Chennai the champion but this year his performance is continuously deteriorating. Despite this, the team gave him continuous chances but he could not regain his form. On the other hand, Ravindra gave a flying start to the Yellow Army in the first few matches, but after that, he did not score runs from his bat, due to which the young player was shown the way out of the playing eleven. Ravindra has played a total of 9 matches this season, in which he has scored 161 runs with a poor average of 17.89 and his best score during this period has been 46 runs.
