Mumbai Indians lost ten matches in the Indian Premier League 2024 and are likely to finish last in the league standings. Former India player Sunil Gavaskar, who generally supports MI, lost his cool on the players and the franchise.

Mumbai sacked Rohit Sharma and replaced him with Hardik Pandya, a move that backfired. Pandya and Sharma were at loggerheads and didn’t speak to each other much, which also contributed to the franchise’s failures.

Jasprit Bumrah was the only performer with the ball and didn’t get any support from the other bowlers. Gavaskar was brutal in his assessment.

“They don’t have good players in the team. Mumbai Indians players are paper tigers, and they look strong on paper. Show me a single batter who has performed consistently in the season. You need performers and not big names. Mumbai didn’t show any fight and that’s why they are 10th in the points table,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

Mumbai lost their final league game against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.
