Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) had to face a crushing defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2026 match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. The home team’s batting completely disintegrated and the match ended in a one-sided manner.

The lethal bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood broke the back of the team in the initial overs itself. The situation became so bad that at one time the team’s score became 6 wickets for 8 runs. Delhi recorded the lowest score in IPL history by scoring only 13 runs in the powerplay. The entire team was reduced to 75 runs in 16.3 overs.The fast bowlers of Royal Challengers Bangalore achieved excellent swing with the new ball and did not give any chance to the Delhi batsmen to recover. Delhi’s batsmen looked completely helpless in front of the precise line-length and movement of both the bowlers.
Chasing the small target of 76 runs, the Bengaluru team batted without any pressure and achieved the target by losing only one wicket. With this victory the team completely proved its dominance in the match.
After the match, captain Axar Patel expressed disappointment and said that he did not understand what happened to the team. He believed that it is important to be alert all the time in cricket and one has to recover quickly from this defeat.
He also said that if the top order had shown a little patience, the match could have been different.The Delhi Capitals team will now leave this defeat behind and prepare for its next match. The team’s next match will be played against Rajasthan Royals on May 1 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
