LSG lost in the super over (Photo: PTI)
In IPL 2026, a case of serious irregularities has come to light in the match played between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders on 26 April. The footage of that incident is viral on social media, seeing which it is not difficult to say that if this had not happened then the victory of Sanjiv Goenka's team Lucknow Super Giants was certain. There is no chance of him going to the super over. After the match was tied at Ekana Stadium, it went into Super Over, where KKR defeated LSG.
Now the question is what truth is hidden in the footage of the match which is circulating on social media, which shows that LSG could have won the match which was tied.
This video is of the 12th over of LSG's innings and appears to be the result of a terrible mistake by the umpire.Chasing the target of 156 runs given by KKR, LSG had scored 67 runs for 2 wickets in 11 overs. In such a situation, Karthik Tyagi came to bowl the 12th over for KKR. Rishabh Pant, who was on strike, played a big shot on the very first ball of this over by Kartik Tyagi.
It was seen in the video that the ball fluttered in the air and fell beyond the boundary. That means the ball went for a six. But the umpire gave him a four. The person running the score board counted only 4 runs. That too when the distance of the six was shown through graphics in the video as 63 meters. This was the only mistake which deprived LSG of victory.11.1 over – Kartik Tyagi to Pant that was CLEARLY a six, but somehow the umpire calls it four 👀 Runs get recorded as 4, match goes to a Super Over

Lucknow Super Giants had to bear the brunt of the terrible mistake made by the umpire as they suffered a straight loss of 2 runs and had to pay the price for it at the end of the match, when the match was tied and went into the Super Over.
Lucknow team had to face defeat in the super over. If 2 runs had not been scored in the 12th over of the innings and the umpire had taken the right decision, then perhaps LSG would have won the lost match against KKR.
