The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026’s season match number 38, which was played on Sunday night, went down to the wire. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced the first super-over of the season. In the end, it was Ajinkya Rahane’s side that ended up prevailing over the home team to pocket their second win of the season.

One very observant fan took to X and posted a video where he claimed that the home team was denied a clear six. The incident in question happened on the first ball of the 12th over, bowled by Kartik Tyagiwith Lucknow skipper Rishabh Pant unbeaten on 32.

According to the fan, Pant’s shot over the short fine-leg region off Karthik Tyagi on the first ball of the 12th over had carried for a six.

The umpires, though, gave it as a boundary, without even going for the necessary checks. Taking to his X-account, this fan wrote that had it been given six runs, LSG would have won the game.

Rinku Singh and Mohsin Khan steal the spotlight

Kolkata were asked to bat first after Rishabh won the toss, but the three-time champions lost six wickets for 73 in 11 overs. The left-arm seamer Mohsin Khan did the damage with the ball as he picked up this campaign’s first fifer. Khan ended the innings with figures of 5/23 from his four overs, which also included a maiden.

Just when it seemed the former IPL champions were struggling, they found a hero with the bat. Rinku Singh played a stellar knock of 83 not out, which came off just 51 balls with the help of seven boundaries and five massive sixes. The batter did well to take his side to 154 runs.

Sunil Narine’s impressive performance

Chasing 156 runs to win, the Super Giants lost Mitchell Marsh early, but Pant and Aiden Markram batted well to add 57 runs for the second wicket.

Cameron Green then got the key wicket of Markram for 31, and Narine then got rid of dangerous-looking Pant for 42. The visitors took wickets at regular intervals.

Needing 17 runs to defend from six balls, Tyagi was given a chance to become the hero. Nerves got the better of the youngster as he bowled two successive no-balls, and the free-hit went for a four. Needing 7 runs from the last ball, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami hit a six to tie the game.

Sunil Narine produced two wickets in 3 balls as LSG were bowled out for just one run in the super-over. Rinku wasted no time in hitting the ball for a boundary as the Knight Riders coasted to their second win of the season.
