Angkrish Raghuvanshi Run Out Controversy: In the 38th match of IPL 2026, a controversial and shocking incident between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) shook the entire field. The way the third umpire ran out young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi created a lot of uproar. After which the Kolkata Knight Riders camp looked very angry and Angkrish Raghuvanshi also lost his temper.

Dishonesty with KKR?

Actually, Prince Yadav bowled the 5th over of KKR's innings.

On the last ball of this over, Angkrish Raghuvanshi pushed the back of length ball towards mid-on and ran. But his partner sent him back midway. Raghuvanshi returned mid-way and dived, while Mohammed Shami threw to run him out. But the ball hit the body of Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

After this incident, the Lucknow Super Giants team made a mild appeal. At first it seemed that Raghuvanshi did not change direction to come in the line of throw. It seemed like this in real time. However, when the third umpire saw the replay, the story changed. According to the third umpire, Raghuvanshi's turning radius was more than normal.

He also looked at the ball and changed direction. While diving, he went out of the cut strip. The third umpire agreed with this assessment and declared Raghuvanshi out.

Raghuvanshi angry at third umpire's decision

Raghuvanshi looked very angry after this decision. He was seen expressing his displeasure on the field itself. He threw his helmet and also hit the bat on the boundary line. Due to this incident, Angkrish Raghuvanshi returned to the pavilion after scoring 9 runs on 8 balls.

What is the obstructing the field rule?

According to the Obstructing the Field rule, if a batsman deliberately obstructs the fielding team while the ball is in play, he is given out.

For example, if a batsman deliberately changes his direction while running so that the fielder's throw is blocked or is prevented from hitting the stumps, then he can be given Obstructing the Field Out. In this it is seen whether the batsman's turning radius was greater than normal and whether he changed direction to come into the line of throw. This out can also occur if the batsman deliberately tries to stop or throw the ball back with his bat or body. Something similar happened in Angkrish Raghuvanshi's incident, the umpire felt that he did it deliberately.
But he said that he was just trying to return to the crease.
