What is the obstructing the field rule?
According to the Obstructing the Field rule, if a batsman deliberately obstructs the fielding team while the ball is in play, he is given out.
For example, if a batsman deliberately changes his direction while running so that the fielder's throw is blocked or is prevented from hitting the stumps, then he can be given Obstructing the Field Out. In this it is seen whether the batsman's turning radius was greater than normal and whether he changed direction to come into the line of throw. This out can also occur if the batsman deliberately tries to stop or throw the ball back with his bat or body. Something similar happened in Angkrish Raghuvanshi's incident, the umpire felt that he did it deliberately. But he said that he was just trying to return to the crease.
