IPL 2026: Virat Kohli guides RCB to victory after being dropped on zero by Washington Sundar

Gujarat Titans paid a heavy price for dropping Virat Kohli on zero as the star batter went on to amass 81 runs off 44 balls, laced with 8 fours and 4 sixes. His knock scripted RCB’s win by 5 wickets, and the defending champions moved to second place with 10 points from 7 games. Washington Sundar couldn’t hold on to a regulation catch of Kohli on Mohammed Siraj’s delivery.

Apart from Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal also played a key role in the success, managing 27-ball 55, including 6 sixes and 2 boundaries. Bengaluru completed the chase of 206 runs in 18.5 overs. Kohli and Padikkal added 115 runs for the second wicket, which ended GT’s chances.

Kohli has scored 328 runs so far in IPL 2026 and is the current holder of the Orange Cap.

Although RCB lost four quick wickets, Krunal Pandya (23* off 12) and Tim David (10* off 9) completed the chase at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Rashid Khan took 2 wickets, but he conceded 49 runs from 4 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar dismissed one batter each.

Earlier, Sai Sudharsan scored a hundred for the Titans to help in taking the overall total to 205 for 3 in 20 overs. He scored 100 off 58 balls, laced with 11 boundaries and 5 maximums. Captain Shubman Gill (32 off 24), Jos Buttler (25 off 16), Jason Holder (23* off 10) and Washington Sundar (19* off 12) batted well in the RCB vs GT match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma and Josh Hazlewood claimed one scalp each.

With their fourth defeat, the Gujarat Titans are seventh in the standings. They have recorded 6 points from 7 games.
