Sanju Samson scored unbeaten 101 runs in 54 balls
Mumbai Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya admitted after the crushing defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 match that losing wickets in the powerplay was the reason for the team’s defeat.
CSK defeated Mumbai Indians by 103 runs due to the second century of the season by wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson (101 not out) and a brilliant performance by the bowlers led by left arm spinner Akil Hussain (four wickets for 17 runs, one maiden).
Hardik said after the match, losing the early wicket in the powerplay was costly. Because of this it became very difficult to chase the target. We could not get out of that pressure.
Samson played 54 balls for his fifth century in the IPL, hitting 10 fours and six sixes.
With his century, CSK scored a respectable score of 207 runs for six wickets after being invited to bat. Mumbai Indians, who came to chase the target, could not recover from the initial shock and were all out for just 104 runs in 19 overs.Hardik said, we should have batted better. When asked about the pitch, he said, he had also batted on this pitch. Sanju Samson played a tremendous innings. Other batsmen kept coming with him and playing useful innings.
He said, it was necessary to have rhythm to chase the target but it did not happen.
Now we will talk about what changes we can make. We have a few days to think and we have to see what is the best we can do.
