Lucknow. In the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Rajasthan Royals broke their losing streak and registered a spectacular win against Lucknow Supergiants. In this low-scoring match played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, the Rajasthan bowlers wreaked havoc and defeated the host team by 40 runs. With this victory, Rajasthan Royals have registered their fifth win in the season.
Rajasthan Royals, who came to bat first after losing the toss, did not have the start as expected, but experienced Ravindra Jadeja once again played the role of a troubleshooter. Jadeja played an important inning of 43 runs on a slow and tricky pitch at Ekana. Thanks to his restrained batting, Rajasthan Royals were successful in reaching a respectable score of 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. This score proved to be decisive in the end in the challenging conditions of Lucknow.
Lucknow Supergiants, who set out to chase the target of 160 runs, had a nightmare-like start. The team lost its three top batsmen on the score of just 11 runs. Veteran batsmen like captain Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni returned to the pavilion without opening their account. In the middle order, Mitchell Marsh held one end and played a fighting inning of 55 runs in 41 balls, but he did not get anyone’s support from the other end. Nicholas Pooran had given hope by scoring 22 runs, but he also failed to play a big innings and the entire team collapsed for 119 runs.
Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag proved his captaincy by making excellent use of the bowlers. The team’s fast bowler Joffra Archer bowled lethally and took 3 wickets and broke the back of Lucknow. At the same time, Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma bowled brilliantly and took two wickets each. In the bowling department, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi also did not give any chance to Lucknow to make a comeback by achieving one success each.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals have made a strong comeback after two consecutive defeats and have strengthened themselves in the race for the playoffs with their fifth win of the season. On the other hand, this defeat is no less than a shock for Lucknow Supergiants. This is Lucknow’s fifth defeat in seven matches, due to which the journey ahead has become very difficult for them.
