Game Desk: Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Tilak Verma won the Player of the Match award with his maiden IPL century against Gujarat Titans (GT). At the age of 23 years and 163 days, Tilak scored the youngest IPL century for Mumbai Indians. Tilak scored unbeaten 101 runs in 45 balls and took the team to the score of 199/5.
“Of course, the first century will always be special. It was very important for us, and it is important for us every game,” Tilak said in the post-match presentation. While sharing his batting style, he said that he first spent time with the balls and then showed his abilities openly. “I have all the fancy shots, but when the team is under pressure, I rely on my skills and make it the basis of my victory,” he said.
Verma also gave credit to Naman Dheer for his partnership. He said, “[नमन के साथ पार्टनरशिप] This was very important. The credit goes to him for the way Naman played with positive intent.”
Mumbai bowlers also had an important contribution in this spectacular victory against Gujarat Titans. Ashwini Kumar (4/24), Mitchell Santner (2/16), and AM Ghazanfar (2/17) tore apart Gujarat’s batting line-up. In reply, Gujarat were never able to perform well, and were all out for 100 runs after their top-order collapsed badly.
With this win, Mumbai Indians moved up to seventh place in the IPL 2026 points table, where they have four points so far with two wins and four losses. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, finished sixth with three wins and three losses from six matches.
