Shreyas Iyer has established himself as one of the finest T20 captains in world cricket at the moment. Under his leadership, Punjab Kings reached the finals last year. This was the franchise's first appearance in the IPL final since 2011. So far in IPL 2026, Punjab Kings are the only unbeaten team, with five wins from six games. One of their matches ended without a result.

Recently, Shreyas shed light on his mindset, underscoring the importance he gives to manifestation. The right-handed batter said that his current goal is to win this year's IPL.

“Whenever I play in any tournament, I play to win.

For me, winning is everything; there is no substitute. Even if it doesn’t happen, that is fine, I can accept it and move on. But whatever I do, whatever my efforts are for, it is for the trophy. I play to win. Whatever tournaments and opportunities come up next, I will definitely want to win them. For this year, the manifestation is to win the IPL. I just want to put it out there in the universe that I want to lift the trophy. There are going to be small steps to reach that stage. It will definitely take a team effort and everyone has to think in that direction; only then can you achieve that," Shreyas said via JioStar.

Shreyas has not just led Punjab Kings well. He has performed wonderfully with the bat. In five innings, he has amassed 208 runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 182.46. The 31-year-old has already notched up three half-centuries.

Punjab Kings defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs on Sunday, April 19, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

They will now travel to New Delhi to face the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 25. This promises to be an intriguing clash between two strong batting sides on a ground which has fairly short boundaries.
