KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane records new low, tops unwanted list

Ajinkya Rahane, who is leading the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2026, scripted an unwanted record against the Rajasthan Royals, registering the most ducks by an opener. During the KKR vs RR game at the Eden Gardens, he was dismissed without troubling the scorers after facing two balls. He was caught by Dhrul Jurel on Nandre Burger’s delivery, taking his duck count to 12, surpassing Parthiv Patel (11) in the list. It was his second successive scoreless return, following a duck against the Gujarat Titans in the previous clash.

Rahane hasn’t been able to get going in the 19th season of the tournament. He scored 67 runs off 40 balls in the campaign opener against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Since then, he has managed four single-digit scores in the seven games so far.

In seven matches, he has scored 152 runs at an average of 25.33. Kolkata defeated the RR by 4 wickets, completing the chase of 156 in 19.4 overs. Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 53 runs off 34 balls, laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes. He shared a match-winning stand of 76 runs with Anukul Roy, who amassed 29 not out in 16 deliveries, including 2 sixes and 1 four.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals were restricted to 155/9, with Player of the Match Varun Chakravarthy rintaking three wickets for 14 runs. Kartik Tyagi also dismissed three batters while Sunil Narine added two scalps to his bowling figures.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (46 off 28) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (39 off 29) were the only batsmen who performed for Rajasthan.
