There are speculations that MS Dhoni is likely to retire after the Indian Premier League 2024. The game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru could be his last if the five-time champions don’t qualify for the playoffs.

With 12 points from 13 games, RCB are currently sixth in the points table. CSK are ranked fourth with 14 points. Both teams are in a must-win situation.

Former cricketer Robin Uthappa said that Dhoni will not announce his retirement.

“Is this MS’s final season at CSK? Personally, I do not believe it. Do they wish to ruin RCB’s party? Absolutely. I believe that Ruturaj would like to make it to the playoffs in his debut campaign as captain. That will give him and CSK a great boost in confidence,” Uthappa said on Jio Cinema.

Dhoni has scored 161 runs in 10 innings this season. His 226.66 strike rate demonstrates the significance of his cameos in the 17th season.

To make it to the playoffs, RCB must win against Chennai with a significant margin. For CSK, a straightforward victory will do the task. Dhoni has played nine matches against the RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and amassed 376 runs at an average of 125.33 and a strike-rate of 184.31. He has also smacked four half-centuries.

The contest will see a showdown between two biggest cricket icons, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Kohli is RCB’s most valuable player this season and has piled up 661 runs at a strike rate of 155.16 in 13 games and is leading the Orange Cap race.
