Lalit Modi on IPL Future: IPL is the richest and most popular cricket league in the world. Here the players get the most money compared to any other cricket league. At present, the most expensive player in the league is Rishabh Pant, who was bid for Rs 27 crore in the year 2025. Whereas, Shreyas Iyer was successful in earning Rs 26.75 crore. The most expensive foreign player is Cameron Green and a bid of Rs 25.20 crore was made for him. This salary is for one season of IPL. But former IPL chairman Lalit Modi has made a big claim regarding the future of IPL.
According to him, in the coming time, players can get up to Rs 150 crore for one season.Lalit Modi believes that from the year 2030, top class players in IPL can earn a salary of up to Rs 150 crore for a season. Lalit Modi made this prediction while talking to Michael Vaughan in a podcast. He said that by 2030, the player purse of the franchise can reach 100 million dollars (about Rs 929 crore). That means a top player can get around 1 million dollars (about Rs 9.3 crore) per match.
Especially giving the example of England's young all-rounder Jacob Bethel, Lalit Modi said, 'Jacob Bethel will earn 16 million dollars (Rs 150 crore) every season in IPL by 2030.' Michael Vaughan described Bethel as a big star of the future, on which Modi completely agreed. He highlighted Bethel's great play and X-factor. This statement of Lalit Modi is now going viral on social media.
Jacob Bethel is a 21 year old explosive young player from England. He made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2025 and became the youngest foreign player for RCB at the age of just 21 years and 186 days.
He is also a part of the RCB team in the current season. Till now he has played only two matches in IPL, but has scored 67 runs, in which the strike rate has been 171.79. He played a brilliant half-century of 55 runs in 33 balls against Chennai Super Kings. On the basis of his performance, RCB retained him for Rs 2.60 crore for the 2026 season.
