Irfan Pathan: IPL 2024 is in its final stages, but the excitement is not diminishing. Three teams have confirmed their places for this season's playoffs. At the same time, a big match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings (RCB vs CSK) on May 18 for the fourth place. But before this important match, former Indian player Irfan Pathan has given a stern warning to CSK by reminding them of last year's incident. He also expects an exciting match on Saturday.

Irfan Pathan warned CSK

39-year-old Irfan Pathan expressed his views about the match to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday during a program on Star Sports. They said,

“Look, nothing is easy, but RCB has momentum. There is solid momentum. If they play with the same momentum and qualify, then alarm bells will ring for all the other teams. There is no team more dangerous than a team with momentum. At the same time, CSK has a history, this team knows how to win the important moments.

Recalling last year's incident, Irfan further said, “There are a lot of issues with CSK. There is a problem due to injury, there is a new captain. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is definitely seen setting the fielding, but everyone will remember the scene with Jadeja, what happened when he was the captain. There was a glitch at the end of the season. There are full chances of it happening here too.”

There will be a knockout match

This match will be do or die for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings to enter the playoffs. If Chennai wins this match, they will have 16 points in their account in the points table and they will easily get the playoff ticket. But this may prove to be a difficult task for RCB. They also have some conditions for victory. Bengaluru will have to win this match by a margin of 18 runs or while chasing they will have to achieve the target till the first ball of the 19th over, so that they can move ahead in terms of run rate.

Danger of rain is also looming

It is noteworthy that the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Bengaluru. There is a possibility of rain and storm in the city for the next five days from May 17 to May 21. Also, on May 18, it is going to be cloudy throughout the night. As per IPL rules, it is mandatory to have at least 5 overs in each innings to complete the match. At the same time, this 5-5 over match can also be started till 10:56 pm. After this the match will be canceled and one each will be divided between the two teams. If this happens, CSK will get the playoff ticket.
