After the latest back scan conducted in Sydney, it has been confirmed that Cummins’ injury has now completely recovered. He had a lumbar bone stress injury, due to which he was able to play only one match after July last year.

Cummins himself has indicated on social media that he will leave for India on Friday and is targeting to return for the match against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on 25 April.

Why is Cummins important for Hyderabad?
In the absence of Cummins, Ishan Kishan is captaining the team.

The team is currently placed fourth in the points table, with 2 wins from 5 matches. Head coach Daniel Vettori had already said that Cummins is associated with the team and is continuously guiding Kishan regarding captaincy. His return will strengthen both SRH’s bowling and leadership, especially in the mid-phase of the tournament.

Cummins has a busy schedule
Cummins has a very busy schedule ahead of him. Australia has to play at least 20 Tests from August to July next year, which includes big series like India, England, South Africa and New Zealand.

Apart from this, if Australia qualifies, then the World Test Championship final may also have to be played in June.

Josh Hazlewood has also returned from injury and is playing for RCB but his workload is being managed. At the same time, Mitchell Starc is not yet associated with Delhi Capitals as he is recovering from shoulder and elbow injury. Overall, Cummins’ return could prove to be the turning point of the season for SRH. Now it will be interesting to see whether he directly enters the playing eleven on April 25 or not.
