The Punjab Kings beat the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in Match 24 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium.
Being put into bat, the Mumbai Indians scored 195/6 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a masterful century from Quinton de Kock. The 33-year-old carried his bat through the innings, finishing unbeaten on 112 off just 60 balls. He stitched a 122-run stand with Naman Dhir, stabilising after Arshdeep Singh broke the innings open in the powerplay when he dismissed Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav off successive deliveries. Punjab Kings pulled the game back after the dismissal of Dhir for 51, as MI looked to have a platform set up to get a total over 200. Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/22 from his four overs in a fantastic spell.
In response, PBKS started strongly in the power play, but MI clawed their way back into the game after Allah Ghazanfar dismissed the in-form Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. Captain Shreyas Iyer then joined Prabhsimran Singh as the pair put on a 139-run stand off just 67 balls. The pair took the attack to the Mumbai bowlers after the powerplay ended and ensured the required rate kept reducing after every over. They were cruising to the total with ease before Iyer fell for 66. Having already done enough to set the visitors up for the victory, and with just 12 runs needed for victory, the Punjab Kings finished the game with 21 balls to spare, with Prabhsimran Singh finishing unbeaten on 80.
The Punjab Kings continue their unbeaten start to the tournament with this victory and find themselves at the top of their table. The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have lost their fourth consecutive match of the season and find themselves in ninth place in the table.
