Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured their second consecutive win of the season by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an Indian Premier League match on April 15. Spinner Noor Ahmed delivered a match-winning spell, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs, which proved decisive in restricting KKR to 160 for 7 while chasing 193.
KKR had reached 79 for 2 with a promising 50-run partnership between skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. However, Noor’s quick dismissal of Rahane, Cameron Green, and Rinku Singh disrupted the chase and left KKR struggling.
In the post-match presentation, Noor Ahmed said, “Really happy to contribute for my team. Yeah, the dew was there, and it was humid, so just try to keep my fingers dry, and yeah, that helped me a lot to hit the right area. It was all about that. Yeah, really happy with the pitch. I think the ball was not coming really well to the bat, and yeah, to take advantage of that, it was good.” He added, “Yeah, definitely it gives a lot of confidence. I will keep putting lots of effort into contributing to contribute for my team in the coming matches. I think keeping changing pace is the best tactic everywhere and on every wicket.”
After being put into bat by KKR, CSK posted 192 for 5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson scored 48 runs from 32 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, while Dewald Brevis contributed 41 runs off 29 balls. Kartik Tyagi was the most effective bowler for KKR, taking 2 wickets for 35 runs.
During the KKR innings, they began strongly with 29 for 2 and the 50-run stand between Rahane and Raghuvanshi. However, Noor Ahmed’s spell reduced the team to 90 for 6. KKR finished their innings at 160 for 7, extending their winless streak to four losses and one no result, leaving them at the bottom of the table.
CSK climbed to eighth place with four points.
