Sanju Samson had performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2026 played in India. He played an important role in making India champion. He was also named ‘Player of the Tournament’.

Samson was chosen Player of the Month
Samson played match-winning innings in the most important matches. He scored an unbeaten 97 in the virtual quarterfinal against West Indies in Kolkata. After this, he played an inning of 89 runs in the semi-final against England in Mumbai and 89 runs in the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

Thanks to these innings, India won the T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time and lifted the trophy at home for the first time. On receiving the award, Samson said that this is the most special phase of his career and the trust of the team helped him perform better.

Mellie Kerr’s all-round show
In the women’s category, Mellie Kerr performed brilliantly with both bat and ball. He scored 176 runs and also took 18 wickets in four ODIs played in March. New Zealand won the series against Zimbabwe 3–0, with Kerr named player of the series. His best performance was 34 runs for 7 wickets.

Kerr also did wonders in T20 International. He scored 276 runs and took 6 wickets, as New Zealand defeated South Africa 4–1 and Kerr was once again named Player of the Series.

This is his third ICC Player of the Month award. Earlier, she had also won this honor in February 2022 and October 2024.

Samson left his own teammate Jasprit Bumrah and South Africa’s Connor Esterhuizen behind in the race for this award. Whereas Kerr defeated Beth Mooney of Australia and Ayabonga Khaka of South Africa. According to ICC, the winners were selected on the basis of votes from fans around the world and the opinion of experts. Overall, the month of March was in the name of these two players, who made a special mark in the cricket world with their strong performance.
