Indian pacer Mohammed Shami uploaded a video of himself enjoying pani puri on his couch. His last on-field appearance came on November 19 during the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Since then, the speedster has been out of action because of his injury.

To give his supporters a peek of his time off the pitch, Mohammed Shami posted a video on his official Instagram account. He could be seen making and eating pani puri. The caption read, ‘Embracing the flavours of life, one Pani Puri at a time.’

Shami has been undergoing rehabilitation since surgery on his Achilles tendon earlier this year. Shami is not playing in the IPL 2024 and will also be unavailable for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which takes place next month.

Former Australian bowler Glenn McGrath suggested Mohammed Shami to take note of the fitness level of 41-year old English pacer James Anderson. During the MRF pace foundation event, McGrath spoke with PTI and said,

“It’s difficult, but bowlers with experience, like Shami, have an advantage. Even though he’s been bowling good for a long time but as you get older you still need to be driven to work hard in the gym, get prepared, and perform. Consider 41-year-old James Anderson, who has taken 700 wickets in Test cricket and is still is an excellent bowler.”

“Therefore, you are still capable of being the best. However, bowling fast is hard on the body as you grow older, and it can undoubtedly affect you in the long run,” he continued.
