Sunil Chhetri Announced his Retirement : Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri has announced his retirement. The Indian team has to play a match against Qatar in the FIFA World Cup qualification on June 6 and this match will be Sunil Chhetri's last match in international football. After this he will not be seen in the jersey of the Indian team. The Indian Cricket Board i.e. BCCI has also given its reaction on Sunil Chhetri's retirement.

Chhetri, who made his debut for India in 2005, has played 150 matches in an international career spanning almost two decades, scoring 94 goals so far and is the third highest goal scorer in the list of active players.

Announcing his retirement, Sunil Chhetri recalled his journey and said, I still remember when I played my first match. My first match, my first goal, this was the most memorable moment of my journey. I never thought that I would play so many matches for the country. I told my mother, my father and wife… my family first about retirement. When told, my father was normal. He was relieved. Were happy, but my mother and my wife started crying straight away. He started crying bitterly. It's not that I was feeling tired, it's not that I was feeling anything else, but this would be my last match, I thought about it a lot.

There has also been a reaction from the Indian Cricket Board on Sunil Chhetri's retirement. BCCI posted on Twitter, “Your career has been quite extraordinary. You have been an icon for Indian sports and Indian football.
