Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri has announced his retirement. He made the announcement on social media.

His close friend and star player, Virat Kohli, led the wishes.

Chhetri will play his final match for India against Kuwait in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match on June 6.

Kohli posted a comment on Chhetri’s Instagram video, saying, ‘My brother. Proud.’

Chhetri made his international debut and scored his first international goal against Pakistan on June 12, 2005.

With 94 goals in 150 games, Chhetri is third on the list of most international goals. Cristiano Ronaldo (128 in 205 matches) and Lionel Messi (106 in 180 matches) are ahead of him.

Chhetri is also the most capped footballer of India.
