Before the last matches of IPL 2024, English players have left their respective teams and returned to their country. England has to play a T20 series against Pakistan before the T20 World Cup 2024, due to which their cricket board has called them home. As soon as the English players returned home, Irfan Pathan has once again targeted these players.

Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Will Jacques, Liam Livingstone and many other English players have left their respective franchises. He was instructed by the England and Wales Cricket Board to return for this series before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Despite BCCI talks, England refused to change their stance after which Sunil Gavaskar was very angry and asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India to fine these players for leaving the IPL midway.

He said, “I am in favor of fair international cricket. However, if you have agreed to be a part of the entire season, you should keep your word. England players are earning a lot of money from IPL and they should honor their contracts. Now is the time for BCCI to allow franchisees to deduct some amount from their total contract amount if they leave prematurely. Even the 10 percent commission paid to cricket boards should be stopped.”

Irfan has expressed his opinion on this matter and while expressing his anger on the English players, he clearly said that either they should play the entire season or should not come to play the IPL. “Either be available for the entire season or don't come,” he wrote on X.

Let us tell you that the owners of all the franchises can discuss this issue in a meeting with the officials of the Indian Cricket Board after the conclusion of the 17th season.
