Phil Salt declared Jofra Archer, his England teammate, to be the fastest bowler he has faced. Salt admitted that he was the victim of Archer’s deadly bouncers and was stunned by his raw pace. England’s 15-man T20 World Cup team includes Salt and Archer. England and Scotland will play in the tournament’s opening match at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 4.
In a conversation with the Knights Dugout podcast, Salt said he was afraid to face Archer in the nets. Salt remembered getting beaten by Archer’s intense speed, but he also claimed that it improved his reflexes.
“I have to say Jofra is the fastest bowler I’ve faced that too in 18 yards. At such pace, he bowls three bouncers in an over from 18 yards. Though it’s useful in sharpening reflexes, there have been occasions when he’s hit me just before a game and everything went crazy,” claimed Salt.
After recovering from his elbow injury, Archer will be returning the England team. The England pacer’s last appearance was in March 2023, during the team’s tour to Bangladesh.
Phil Salt shared his first-ever experience of being picked in the England squad. He disclosed that he got a lot of messages following his inclusion in England’s 15-man team.
“I never had so many texts piling up on my phone. Even though I don’t use the phone much in general, this was a fantastic experience. It was wonderful because praises were flooding my phone,” he stated.
Salt has been an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ spectacular season, amassing 435 runs at an incredible strike rate of 182.01 in 12 games.
