Injury Scare Over? MS Dhoni Fitness Update Emerges as Dewald Brevis Adds Buzz Before CSK vs DC Showdown

A new update on MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis has emerged ahead of the IPL 2026 CSK vs DC clash on April 11 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The Chennai Super Kings had a difficult start to their campaign this season, suffering three consecutive defeats against Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru and sank to the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table.

South African batter Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni missed the initial phase of the tournament due to respective injuries during training.

With CSK preparing for an important clash, Dewald Brevis is likely to return to the playing 11 for the upcoming clash against the Delhi Capitals, boosting CSK’s batting lineup.

However, MS Dhoni has been undergoing rehab for a calf muscle strain and missed the start of the IPL 2026. According to reports, MS Dhoni underwent a fitness test a few days ago, and it is likely that CSK do not want to rush his return and might organise another fitness test for him.

On this occasion, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has provided an update on MS Dhoni due to injury. MS Dhoni is currently recovering from a calf strain and is undergoing a strict rehabilitation programme.

“Dhoni is working hard to get back,” said Stephen Fleming during the pre-match conference. However, the coach did not offer a clear timeline for MS Dhoni’s return leaving fans waiting for further updates.

In his absence, Sanju Samson have taken over wicketkeeping duties but has struggled with the bat, and will be hoping to improve performance as the tournament progress.

MS Dhoni has been identity of the CSK, and from start of the IPL 2026, fans have been eagerly waiting for him to make comeback for the team. In IPL 2025, MS Dhoni played 13 games and scored 196 runs at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 135.17.

Cricket fans expect MS Dhoni to likely return to CSK line up for their next game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
