Punjab Kings will look to continue their unbeaten run in the IPL 2026 when they meet Sunrisers Hyderabad in New Chandigarh on Saturday afternoon. PBKS are placed second in the points table after their last game against KKR was washed out due to rain at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to defend 156 runs against LSG in their last match and placed sixth in the points table with just one win in three games this season. The Sunrisers will look to count on their brilliant record against PBKS in the past to revive their campaign in the absence of Pat Cummins.
Punjab Kings are flying high at the moment and will look to bag maximum points against SRH to regain a top spot in the points table on Saturday. Both teams will enter the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, with the same target, but different mindsets.
Punjab Kings have a poor head-to-head record against Sunrisers Hyderabad with just seven wins in 24 meetings in IPL history. Sunrisers have also dominated the recent games with four wins in the last five encounters.
Last season, in their most recent meeting, they chased down a 246-run target in just 18.3 overs, with Abhishek Sharma scoring a record-laden 141 runs off just 55 balls. But a lot has changed since then.PBKS: Priyansh Arya (impact player), Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal.
SRH: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (c & wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Liam Livingstone, Aniket Verma, Harsh Dubey, Shivang Kumar, Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga (impact player)
Shreyas Iyer: Punjab Kings’ captain is leading by example again. At batting no. 4, Shreyas Iyer has scored 68 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 170.00 and will be the key player in the PBKS vs SRH game on Saturday.
Nitish Kumar Reddy: The Pace all-rounder has been in excellent form for Sunrisers Hyderabad with the bat this season.
He smashed 56 off 33 balls against LSG in the last game and a crucial 39 against KKR, becoming one of the most reliable middle-order batters for SRH.
Harsh Dubey: The young spin all-rounder has emerged as SRH’s best bowler this season.
Harsh Dubey took two wickets for 18 against LSG in the last game and has been Hyderabad’s most economical bowler so far in IPL 2026. He is likely to emerge as the most successful bowler in the PBKS vs SRH match in Mullanpur.Punjab Kings have emerged as one of the most consistent sides under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting. They finished as runners-up in 2025 and are unbeaten this season. Their top-order has been clicking consistently, and the addition of Cooper Connolly at No. 3 has been a masterstroke by Ponting. Arshdeep Singh’s form has been a concern, but the likes of Vijaykumar Vyshak and Xavier Bartlett are stepping up when required.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been facing several issues in the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins. Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kisham, and Travis Head have failed to show consistency at the top. Without Cummins and Carse, their pace attack is looking nowhere near good. The only two positive things for the team are the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen in the middle, and the rise of Harsh Dubey as the team’s premier spinner.
Winner: Punjab Kings to win the PBKS vs SRH match.
