CSK’s new opening strategy

Before IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings have made a big change in their opening strategy. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad indicated that he will open the innings with Sanju Samson. Last season, the weakness of the top order was a big problem for the team. Now Samson’s entry will provide stability and experience to the team.

There is still suspense on Dhoni’s role.

Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) before 2026 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain of Ruturaj Gaikwad Has given a big hint regarding the opening pair of the team. During the captains’ meeting held in Mumbai, Gaikwad made it clear that he will be seen opening the innings again this season and Sanju Samson will take over the new responsibility with him.

Lessons from last season’s failure

Chennai’s performance in the last IPL was not as per expectations. The biggest weakness of the team was its top order, where despite constant changes, stability could not be achieved. Sometimes Rachin Ravindra, sometimes Devon Conway and sometimes Rahul Tripathi were tried in the opening, but no combination could be successful.

Young players gave hope

After Gaikwad’s injury in the middle of the season, young players got a chance.

Ayush Mhatre gave a fast start to the team by batting aggressively and scored 240 runs in seven innings. At the same time, Dewald Brevis increased the strength of the team by batting brilliantly in the last overs.

Strength increased with the entry of Sanju Samson

Before IPL 2026, Chennai took a big decision and included Sanju Samson in the team. This transfer happened with Rajasthan Royals, in which Chennai traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Now the team wants to make a fresh start with experience and stability.

Suspense continues on Dhoni’s role

When Gaikwad was asked about the batting position of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he did not give any clear answer on this. He said that for this the fans will have to wait for the first match of the team.

CSK’s initial matches

Chennai Super Kings will start their campaign on March 30 against Rajasthan Royals at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. After this, the team will face Punjab Kings at its home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium on 3rd April and will play against Delhi Capitals on 11th April.

With a new opening pair and a balanced team combination, Chennai is preparing to make a strong comeback this time, leaving behind the disappointment of the last season.
