Bangladesh women’s cricket has received a major boost as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a significant increase in domestic match fees and player salaries. This was the first major decision of the ad-hoc committee headed by Tamim Iqbal, which became officially active on Tuesday.

Women cricket players will now receive BDT 10,000 (approximately USD 80) for T20 matches, BDT 15,000 (approximately USD 120) for 50-over games and BDT 20,000 (approximately USD 160) for first-ball matches, reported ESPNcricinfo. The monthly salaries of the top 36 women players of Bangladesh domestic cricket have been increased from BDT 30,000 (approximately USD 240) to BDT 40,000 (approximately USD 320).

Tamim responded to the decision by saying, “It may not be ideal, but it is certainly an improvement, because there are limits on how much can be raised at one time.”

BCB’s new ad-hoc committee has also approved a salary hike for men’s domestic cricket players. Category A players will now have a monthly salary of BDT 65,000 (approximately USD 540), while Category B and C players will receive BDT 50,000 (approximately USD 415) and BDT 40,000 (approximately USD 333) respectively. Additionally, the first-ball match fee has been increased from BDT 70,000 (approximately USD 583) to BDT 100,000 (approximately USD 833). This new monthly salary structure will be effective from January 1, 2026.

Tamim said, “There has been very little increase in salaries in the last three to four years. I think in the previous salary structure the players were underpaid. These players work hard, and cricket exists because of their efforts. At the very least, they deserve fair compensation.”

The BCB has also set out roles for 11 members of the ad-hoc committee, which is actively working to resolve the ongoing impasse with club teams and aims to launch the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League in the next few weeks.
