Lucknow: A relief news has come out for former captain of Nepal cricket team and star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. In fact, the Patan High Court of Nepal has acquitted him in the case of rape, due to which enthusiasm is being seen among the cricket fans there. Sandeep was accused last year, after which he was absconding from the country. Due to not being able to find his exact location, Nepal Police took the help of Interpol and after that he was arrested from Kathmandu Airport. Not only this, the lower court had sentenced him to 8 years but after this the High Court has acquitted him.

As soon as Sandeep got the clean chit from the High Court, Nepal Cricket Association also gave him a big good news. Actually, Nepal Cricket has announced to include him in its team for ICC T-20 World Cup 2024. Let us tell you that the Cricket Board had already announced its team but Sandeep did not get a place because he was jailed for 8 years and was serving his sentence. However, now he will be included in the World Cup team and will also be seen playing there. Actually, according to ICC rules, a country can make changes in its squad till May 25. In such a situation, they will use this rule to include Lamichhane in their team.

Let us tell you that in September last year, a 17 year old girl had accused Sandeep of rape and a case was registered in Kathmandu. At the time when this case was filed against him, he was present in West Indies and playing the Caribbean Premier League. Meanwhile, when an arrest warrant was issued against him, he absconded and his location could not be found accurately. After this he was arrested with the help of Interpol. After this, on January 10 this year, a lower court in Kathmandu had given a verdict of 8 years imprisonment and now the High Court has acquitted him.

The 23-year-old player has played a total of 52 T20I matches for his national team so far, in which he has taken 98 wickets at the expense of runs with an excellent economy of 6.3. So this player has taken 112 wickets in his name in 51 ODI matches. Not only this, Sandeep is the only player from Nepal who has also played in IPL.
