Rohit Sharma has done well across formats in international cricket. Apart from his batting records, the veteran has led India to success.
Rohit has hit three double centuries in ODIs and accumulated over 18,000 international runs. He was recently asked to name the most difficult bowler he has faced in his career. Sharma took the name of South Africa’s great Dale Steyn. Steyn was renowned for bowling fast and getting the ball swing both ways. His swing and pace didn’t allow the batters to settle down.
“I have seen his videos 100 time before playing against him. Dale Steyn is a legend of the game. He was superb throughout his career. I faced him several time and he was dangerous in every game. He was quick and swing the ball at pace. Dale was a fierce competitor. He just went out there to win every game for his side. It was nice to come up against him. ,” Rohit said in an interaction with Dubai Eye 103.8.
Steyn dismissed Rohit just once in international cricket – at a Boxing Day Test for a duck. When Rohit faced Steyn, the Indian batter hadn’t become a big batter, and when he actually did, Dale was on the last leg of his career.
Steyn also had some nice things to say about the Indian captain. “I struggled to bowl against Rohit. He is a good batter and leads the team from the front,” he had said on Star Sports.
