Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised Jasprit Bumrah and appreciated his hard work. In the press conference before the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Mhambre threw light on Bumrah’s career and his journey.
Paras Mhambrey said that every young bowler needs to learn from Bumrah.
He said, “Bumrah’s hard work in the nets, ticking off every task and applying it in the match is really inspiring. In the last few years with the Indian team, he has not only become a great bowler but has also developed as a great human being.”Mhambre also talked about the team’s bowling strategies. “We always discuss how to get wickets, how to execute our plans, keep pressure on the opposition and how to exploit the strengths and weaknesses of the players,” he said.
Paras also discussed the change of pitch and its impact.
He said, “Mumbai has a red clay pitch, where there is bounce and players can play square cuts and pull shots easily. In Delhi, the black clay pitch has less bounce and the bowlers have to use different areas.”Mhambrey also shed light on the process of working with young players Ashwani Kumar and Mohammad Izhar. He said, “First of all, thanks should go to the scouts who see the sporting potential of these young talents. I put myself in their shoes and think about what I was feeling when I was starting out and how I would have handled the pressure and failures.
This helps me understand their mindset and find the right way to communicate.”Paras said that different coaches, like Lasith Malinga, are working towards the same goal. He further said, “There is no competition between us. The ultimate objective of our team is the same. There is trust, understanding and respect between us.”
