After 11 matches in IPL 2026, four teams share 4fourpoints at the top. The gap between first and fourth on Net Run Rate is already 1.864 runs per over. RCB and Rajasthan Royals are winning by margins; Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are winning by nerve. With 10 teams still holding 12 matches to play, that difference matters more than the table currently shows.
This is a pathway analysis. For each team: what their current form, fixture list, and squad depth says about their actual route to the top four.
Two selections are consensus. Two are worth an argument. Summary
| RCB | Lead IPL 2026 with NRR +2.501; Jacob Duffy took 3 for 13 in the powerplay on debut and has 5 wickets at average 16.00 |
| Sameer Rizvi | Leads Orange Cap with 160 runs; scored 90 off 51 vs MI, second-highest by an Impact Player |
| Rajasthan Royals | Ravi Bishnoi took 4 wickets vs GT; Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 559 runs in IPL 2025 |
| Punjab Kings | Reached IPL 2025 final; retained 21 players; Yuzvendra Chahal has 200 plus career wickets |

Most IPL followers carry the same mental image of Punjab Kings: a franchise that has come close multiple times without winning a title. The 2025 IPL final, their first, began to change that narrative, and IPL 2026 continues that shift.
PBKS started with two wins, including one against Gujarat Titans on April 2. Their strength lies in bowling. Yuzvendra Chahal leads the attack, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen. Chahal has taken 3 wickets in two matches, while Arshdeep remains a reliable powerplay bowler.
No other top-four side has three proven wicket-taking options of this level.
PBKS retained 21 players from their 2025 squad, ensuring continuity.Their batting strength is based on 2025 performances. Shreyas Iyer scored 604 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh added 549. If the bowling unit maintains control in the powerplay, PBKS can follow the same path that took them to the 2025 final.
3. Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals’ playoff push depends heavily on Sameer Rizvi.
Batting as an Impact Player at number four, he has already scored 160 runs in two innings.Against Lucknow Super Giants, Rizvi scored 70 not out and built a 119-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs. Against Mumbai Indians, he scored 90 off 51 balls, one of the highest Impact Player scores in IPL history.
| Most sixes vs MI (DC batter) | Rizvi equalled record with 7 sixes |
| Previous record holders | Rishabh Pant (2019), Tristan Stubbs (2024) |
The concern is structural. Delhi’s NRR of +1.170 is significantly behind RCB. Their wins have depended heavily on Rizvi’s performances.
With tougher fixtures ahead against SRH, RCB, and Rajasthan Royals, the team’s depth will be tested. Rizvi must maintain consistency for DC to remain in contention.
2. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals’ NRR of +2.233 reflects dominant performances. They defeated CSK and Gujarat Titans, including a close 6-run win in Match 9.
Ravi Bishnoi leads the bowling attack. He took 4 wickets against GT and maintains a strong IPL economy rate of 8.22. His role is strengthened by having another spinner at the opposite end, increasing pressure on batters.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his strong form, scoring 55 off 36 balls against GT. He previously scored 559 runs in IPL 2025.
Dhruv Jurel contributed 75 in the same match, showcasing lower-order strength. This balance across batting and bowling gives Rajasthan Royals depth across all departments.
1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru
In the opening match of IPL 2026, Jacob Duffy took 3 wickets for 13 runs in the powerplay against Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB won by 6 wickets, and Duffy was named Player of the Match.
RCB continued their form against CSK, scoring 250 for 3 and winning by 43 runs. Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli led the batting, while Duffy added two more wickets.
RCB currently lead the table with the highest NRR of +2.501.
Their strength lies in balance. The batting lineup includes multiple match-winners, while Duffy adds a new dimension to the bowling attack. With 5 wickets at an average of 16.00 in two matches, he has provided the additional pace option RCB previously lacked.
