Delhi: Former England cricket team all-rounder Paul Collingwood has praised Delhi Capitals (DC) star wicketkeeper batsman Tristan Stubbs for his brilliant performance in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (LSG) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Let us tell you that this aggressive player came to bat at number five for his team at the score of 111/3 after 11.1 overs. The 23-year-old took some time to start his innings and scored only seven runs from his first nine balls.

However, Stubbs destroyed LSG's bowling in the death overs and scored unbeaten 57* (25) with the help of three fours and four sixes, helping his team score 208/4 in 20 overs. After his innings, Collingwood described Stubbs as the 'biggest' match winner of the Delhi team.

Paul Collingwood, 47, said, “He gave himself some time. Sometimes you wonder if he gave himself too much time, but he made up for it in the end. He hits big sixes. His strike rate in the last overs says a lot. He is a match winner for Delhi.”

Highest run scorer for Delhi Capitals

It is known that apart from his batting, Stubbs also did wonders with the ball and took the important wicket of Ayush Badoni (6 out of 9) in the only over. Tristan is the highest run-scorer for Delhi, with 378 runs in 13 innings at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 190.90, he has also scored 3 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, DC won their last league match by 19 runs. They restricted LSG to 189/9 in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing a mammoth score of 209, the KL Rahul-led side read 44/4 after 4.1 overs. Seeing his team in trouble, Nicholas Pooran kept them in the game by playing an innings of 61 (27) runs. Later, Arshad Khan also tried his best to lead Lucknow to victory with his innings of 58* runs (33), but failed to get much support from other players.

As a result, DC managed to win their last league match and finished fifth in the points table with 14 points with seven wins from 14 matches.
