Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu praised DC’s new batting prodigy Tristan Stubbs after the South African player wrapped up his maiden IPL campaign on Tuesday at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium with an all-around effort that won the game for his side.

Rayudu heaped praise on Stubbs’ all-round efforts for the Delhi-side and hailed him as a player who can become as great as the legendary AB de Villiers. Stubbs put on impressive performances in the Indian Premier League 2024.

“Tristan Stubbs is a complete performer. He bowled a wonderful over, and this season he’s countered every ball from the shorter ones to the fuller ones. He’s great against slower ones as well. I think he’s really talented. He is one of those South Africans that resembles AB de Villiers. He has a long way to go, in my opinion. However, he appears to be as good as AB de Villiers,” opined Rayudu on Star Sports.

Against LSG, the young all-rounder struck an unbeaten 57 off just 25 balls with three fours and four sixes. He also claimed the vital wicket of Ayush Badoni. With three half-centuries in 13 matches and 378 runs at an average of 54.00 and an incredible strike rate of 190.90, Stubbs was a standout performer for the Capitals.

Stubbs made a significant contribution to the game with the ball as well, taking three wickets. He was acquired for a bargain price of Rs 50 lakh and has proven to be a precious asset for DC, particularly in the death overs of the innings.

He amassed 173 runs from 54 deliveries at an incredible strike rate of 320.40 in the final three overs of this season’s contests p(overs 18–20). He has only been dismissed once and has played just two dot balls. There are 13 fours and 15 sixes in his tally. He was the rising star for the Delhi Capitals.
